Day 1 – Miami/San Jose
Flight to San Jose, Costa Rica. Upon arrival in San Jose, transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 - San Jose/Turrialba
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, take a private ground transfer from San Jose to Turrialba, visiting the Irazu Volcano with lunch on the way (beverages are not included). Arrival and overnight at selected hotel in Turrialba.
Day 3 - Pacuare River Rafting
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a shared white water rafting tour on Pacuare River. The Pacuare river is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. Located on Costa Rica’s Atlantic slope, the Pacuare River borders the Talamanca mountain range, home to native Cabecar inhabitants and an incredible variety of wildlife. Anyone in normal healthy physical condition can be part in this adventure; however, swimming experience is needed. 14-years-old is the minimum age required. The rafting distance is 14 miles and it takes between three and a half and five hours to complete the ride, depending on water level. Difficulty: moderate. After the rafting journey, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 4 - Turrialba/San Gerardo de Dota
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be picked to be taken by private ground transfer from Turrialba to San Gerardo de Dota, visiting Lankester Garden on the way. Arrival and overnight at selected hotel in San Gerardo de Dota.
Day 5 - Bird Watching
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a shared walking tour to look for Quetzal bird. The resident guide will take you on a walk in search for birds, specially Resplendent Quetzals. This is the best way to wake up to nature! During the walk, you might become one of those lucky people to spot this beautiful bird. Afternoon at leisure to explore the area on your own.
Day 6 - San Gerardo de Dota/Corcovado
After breakfast at the hotel, your private ground transfer will pick you up at the hotel to take you from San Gerardo de Dota to San Jose, connect with a local flight from San Jose to Palmar Sur. Upon arrival, take shared ground and boat transfers to the lodge where you will stay for 3 nights. Lunch and dinner included.
Day 7 - Hiking in the Corcovado National Park
Breakfast at the lodge followed by a shared walking tour to Corcovado National Park. Guided by a naturalist along the trails of the park, this tour provides a good opportunity to spot wildlife and to observe some of the incredible variety of birds that abound in the park. The animal life in this section of the national park is quite vibrant. As well the plant and tree species, which are lush, and teeming with life, will be explained. The trail passes an astonishing waterfall and a river, which invites to cool off in its shaded pools. Lunch and dinner included.
Day 8 - Caño Island
Breakfast at the lodge followed by a shared tour to Caño Island National Park. Located 10 miles off the Western coast of the Osa peninsula, the island has white beaches, rocky platforms and cliffs. The existence of stone spheres, tombs with statues of the same material, gold offerings, and polychrome ceramic leads to believe that the island was used solely for a burial ground for important people during the Pre-Columbian era. The tour includes ample time to snorkel. The dark, volcanic rock is home to numerous species of marine life, many of it can be seen after a short swim from the beach. Due to the coral reefs around the island it’s a great opportunity to see a fantastic number of fish, rays and sometimes turtles. There will also be time to do a short walk or just to enjoy the beautiful beach sheltered by coconut palms. Lunch and dinner included.
Day 9 - Corcovado/San Jose
Breakfast at the lodge followed by shared boat and ground transfers from the lodge to Palmar Sur, where you will connect with a local flight from Palmar Sur to San Jose, upon arrival, enjoy a shared coffee tour with lunch included (beverages are not included). The Doka Coffee Tour takes place on the Doka Estate, where you can learn about the production, the harvesting, the processing plant and the roasting of the grain. Costa Rica has a large variety of microclimates and altitudes within short distances. This route explains how the different climatic factors favor the taste of our coffee. Guided by an expert, the visitors will receive extensive information, which will make this activity an incomparable experience. After the tour, transfer to your selected hotel in San Jose for your overnight stay.
Day 10 - San Jose/Miami
Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
