Day 5 - San Pedro De Atacama/Atacama Salt Flat/Lagunes Miscanti & Miñiques

The air here is extremely dry, which makes the view perfectly clear: it’s actually possible to see the other side of the salt flat, approximately 70 kms away. We continue to the magnificent lagoons Miñiques y Miscanti and to the small village of Socaire. The lagoons are just on the foot of 2 homonymous mountains (Mt. Miñiques: 5910 m and Mt. Miscanti: 5622 m). The contrasts in colors are amazing: deep blue lagoons surrounded by a white strip, yellow vegetation on red and black rocks, snow on the mountain against the blue sky. Transfer back to San Pedro de Atacama visiting on the way the little village of Toconao, an oasis in the middle of the desert known for the production of a huge variety of fruits (due to the lack of arsenic in its waters). Astronomic tour at night is also included.
Day 6 - San Pedro De Atacama/Puritama/Quitor
Short transfer to the village of Guatin, which is the starting point of our hike (4 hours approximately) to the Puritama Hot Spring. Arrival at the hot springs and time to enjoy a relaxing bath. In the afternoon transfer to San Pedro and have a short visit of the Pukara (fortress) of Quitor. Return to your hotel for overnight.
Day 7 - Tatio Geysers – Caspana – Calama
Early morning departure for the excursion to the Tatio Geisers. The scenery at sunrise is unique, with steaming vents and 10 meters high geysers! Enjoy breakfast among the vents. Afterwards transfer to Calama visiting on the way the village of Caspana: surrounded by fertile valleys and cultivation terraces, it is a very typical village for the architecture in a local stone called liparita and known for the production of flowers and vegetables. Afterwards we visit Lasana and its Pukará (fortress) and the village of Chiu-Chiu, whose nice church is one of the most ancient in Chile. Arrival at Calama and check in to your hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 8 - Calama/Ecocamp El Huarango
Morning departure towards the Eco-camp El Huarango. Today we are going to cross the Atacama Desert, the driest in the world. Tonight you will stay overnight in a luxury tent, equipped with beds, sheets, towels, pillows and blankets. Dinner is included at the eco-camp.

Unita to see the geoglyph called “Gigante de Atacama” (Giant of Atacama), huge anthropomorphic figure with 86 meters of height. We cross the National Reserve Pampa del Tamarugal (Northern sector) before we arrive at Arica in the afternoon. Check into your hotel for your overnight stay. Lunch is included during the day at a local restaurant.
